Gods Unchained has recently rolled out significant updates, including the introduction of two new game formats and a revamp of the Daily Play Earnings (DPE) system.
These changes are aimed at altering how players engage with the game, with a particular focus on strategic deck-building under specific conditions.
Additionally, the final patch for the Dread Awakening event has been released, marking the end of this phase of the game’s development.
Introduction of New Formats
In the past two weeks, Gods Unchained introduced two time-limited game formats designed to challenge players with specific deck-building restrictions.
The first format, known as Flashback: Divine Order, ran from August 20 to August 22 and required players to create decks using a limited selection of cards from the Welcome, Core, Genesis, Etherbots, Trial of the Gods, and Divine Order sets.
The format introduced specific rules that required strategic adaptation from players, including applying their current seed rank, reflecting progress in the normal game, and allowing only those with a seed rank of 7 or above to participate. Players were protected from demotion below rank 7, promo cards were prohibited, and the DPE modifier was set to 1.5.
A second format was then introduced on August 26 and will continue until August 30. Whilst it follows the same basic rules as the first, it includes a community challenge where players can submit their decks on the official Gods Unchained Discord channel with the selected winner to be featured on the Format’s Wall of Fame.
Revamped Daily Play Earnings System
The update also brought changes to the Daily Play Earnings (DPE) system.
The DPE Modifier, which affects how many fragments a player earns after winning a match, has been adjusted to better reflect a player’s rank and the quality of their deck. For instance, the value of Mythic cards, which are the rarest in the Gods Unchained universe, has been increased from 125 to 250 within the Deck Modifier system.
Fragment earnings are now restricted to players who have reached at least rank 7, a measure introduced to limit the influence of bots at lower ranks and to better reward committed players. This adjustment aims to reduce the impact of automated bots and ensure that active and higher-ranked players are appropriately rewarded.
Final Patch for Dread Awakening
In addition to the new formats and DPE changes, the final patch for the Dread Awakening event has been released which includes updates to the Dreadtouch mechanic and other gameplay refinements.
This patch marks the end of updates for Dread Awakening due to its distinct design approach within the game. The final tweaks were made to refine the event, addressing any remaining issues.
Future events will shift focus to new thematic designs that resonate more strongly with the evolving gameplay.
